The International Congress of Physical Education and Sport (I.C.P.E.S.) is organized for 20 consecutive years by the Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences of the Democritus University of Thrace　in Komotini (Greece). The diachronic and effective organization of the　Congress by the teaching and administrative staff of the Department mainly derives from its dynamic targets. The aims of the Congress are multidimensional and refer to: 1. the promotion of all sport research work done, 2. the presentation of new scientific achievements in the field of sport, fitness, health, rehabilitation, teaching of physical education, recreation and sport marketing and management, 3. the creation of favorable conditions for interaction, conversation and socialization among the conventioneers, 4. the distribution of scientific methods and research works used in the field of sport and recreation, 5. the learning of new techniques and modern methods related to the job market through the attendance of educational workshops and seminars, 6. the record of new research through the editions that are being released by the Congress, 7. the acquaintance of the conventioneers with the local tradition and culture of Thrace.

One of the Congress’s central aims　constitute the reunion of the Department’s alumni. Last year was the second time that this effort was sealed, with the reunion of class 1991 of the Department of Physical Education and Sport Science of the Democritus University of Thrace and the effort continues the current academic year with the reunion of class 1992(for more information/registration, please contact with the phone number or e-mails of the congress.
